Mpow Flame Review from a Budget User Perspective!

Looking for a solid wireless earphone under Rs. 4000? Look no further—this is the beast!

I bought this during an AliExpress sale. The postman uncle delivered it straight to my doorstep exactly one week later.
(AliExpress pulled a dirty move on me though: right after the sale ended, the price dropped by another Rs. 400 😒).

Alright, let’s jump right into it!

The Backstory & Unboxing

First off, let me brag about why I bought this.
That world-famous unboxing guy (Unbox Therapy) and MKBHD both sang endless praises about these budget buds 😌. Naturally, I fell for the hype and placed the order on AliExpress.
Special thanks to the gentlemen who lent me the cash for this (paying you back within a week, promise 😒).

Side note: I actually recorded a full video review for this, but the file got corrupted at the end. So I decided to write this post instead.

Inside the box, you get a bunch of silicon ear tips, some instruction booklets, a charging cable, and a surprisingly premium-looking hard carrying case.

The Actual Review

I’m comparing these against two wired staples: the Rock Zircon and the Mi In-Ear Basic.
(Don’t have those two on hand right now—a friend took one, and another friend took the other—so this comparison relies on pure audio memory).

1. Build Quality:
   The build quality is absolute steel, my friend! It uses a flat, ribbon-style cable that feels super durable. I even pulled it pretty hard three or four times to test—zero damage. Supposedly it’s IPX7 waterproof certified too (didn’t dare test that though!).

2. Comfort & Fit:
   Now let’s talk comfort. I’ve even slept with these on. Usually, after 2 to 3 hours of continuous playback, your ear canal starts aching pretty bad—feels like the ear hole expanded! 😭
   I use the smallest silicon ear tips included (it comes with 4 sizes). The fit is ultra-snug with zero slippage. Simply put: even if you run to catch a moving bus, these will NOT fall off. Just don’t sprint with them dangling around your neck, or they’ll fly off into the wilderness!

3. Buttons & Controls:
   Features dedicated volume controls, a multifunction power button, and a small status LED.

4. Sound Quality:

   • vs Mi In-Ear Basic: If you listen to both back to back, you’ll realize the Mi In-Ear Basic is garbage in comparison! Even though the Mi is wired and the Mpow is wireless, the sound clarity on the Mpow blows it out of the water. The bass has a remarkably deep rumble. Micro-details are crisp 👌.
   • vs Rock Zircon: The Rock Zircon remains the undisputed king of budget audio. The Mpow Flame can’t dethrone the king, but it’s easily strong enough to be Prime Minister!
   • Sound Signature: Highs (treble) are slightly rolled off, but mids and lows are rock solid. Delivers near crystal-clear audio for the price.
   • Passive Noise Isolation: Cuts out background noise surprisingly well. Case in point: whenever my mom starts nagging, I pop these in and hit play—instant silence! (Not true ANC, but effective).

5. Equalizer & Audio Tuning:
   I did my comparisons with zero EQ applied. But for daily driving, I run these with SBS enabled alongside ViperAudio!
   Track skipping via the phone music app is instant. Using the onboard inline earphone buttons has a tiny 2-second delay.

6. Microphone & Battery Life:

   • Microphone: No complaints here. Tested on 2-3 hour calls daily. You don’t need to shout; normal speaking volume comes through clearly to the receiver.
   • Battery Life: Rated for 7-10 hours on the box. In real-world testing, I get about 8 solid hours of playback. More than enough for me!
   • Charging Time: Takes around 2 hours for a full charge.

Final Verdict

Nothing more to add. For pure music enjoyment on a budget, this machine is an absolute winner!
The only real drawback is the ear canal soreness after 3 hours of continuous use 😭.

Either way, highly recommended budget wireless gear!
(Note: Mpow Flame 2 is also out now, but reviews suggest the audio tuning on version 2 isn’t as good as this original version).
